HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MALAYSIA!

May God's favour continue to be upon your people...
May blessings spring out of your grounds...
May prosperity dwell in your land...

We could see the fireworks display from our house last night. =)

Breakie with Merv and Isaac this morning was supposed to be at 9.30am...but when Isaac came honking at my doorstep, I was still SO asleep! Man...this has never happened before. So anyways, I got ready in like...fifteen minutes. And of course...those two guys were making fun of me. Nothing unusual...really (I mean, the making fun of me part).

So, it was a rather relaxing day...did the laundry with Mum, went for lunch, visited my uncle, came home and watched a movie, went for Jit and jiejie Li Poh's house-warming dinner, and now I'm here.

My one week break is coming to an end. This can only mean ONE thing:

Incoming stresssssssssssss....................

More than just this...
My keyboard and mouse are both going crazy...they didn't want to function properly yesterday. And today...the mouse is just not it's normal self. It's crazy...maybe it ate some cheese................

I'm going in to Singapore today and coming back to Kluang tomorrow...my class is having a BBQ. And my friends are practically begging me to go back for it...hahahaha. They are begging for my presence!!! =P

I was helping Mum out at Sunday School on Sunday...and there is this thing called "Power Point" review every week (it's actually scripture memory review...kids are given a memory verse and if they can memorise and recite it, they get a reward). So there was this little four-year-old boy...the cutest I've ever met...he was reciting the whole verse into the mic. You should have seen him!!! He's really, REALLY cute! And when he was done, all the other kids cheered for him...I could have cried..............

Sometimes I wonder if children's ministry is for me...if I'm cut out for it. It isn't an easy one...but I know it is ver
y rewarding when you see them all grown up and going in the way which they've been directed in. Children have such simplicity and faith...

And what about youth ministry? I've been thinking and praying about it, too...it is definitely tougher dealing with teenagers...and like what Jit said the other day, they really suck out your money and time and energy and food out of your fridge. But nonetheless, rewarding...

And what about ministry for the sick?
Which I've been trained for, skill-wise...but I sometimes think that I won't be able to take it, seeing people pass on, after you've built relationship with them. It pulls at your heart-strings...

And then there's missions, too...I know that there's GREAT need out there where healthcare (and more than just healthcare needs) is much, much needed. But is that my calling?

Sometimes I wish God would just speak into a loud-speaker and tell me where He wants me to be...but that doesn't require faith. At all. So, I'm gonna sit and be still and know that He is God...and discover my passion and calling and then go for it.

* Help me, GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Holidays
I'm having holidays now...very much needed. Yay for me...

For the past week, I've been feeling pretty stressed over the sudden realization that this semester is a really tough one...so many modules, so many assessments, so many projects. Sighhhh...

Anyways, I was up in KL yesterday...for W@P. We had a great time on our way up...six girls, Ryan and Jit (the others were with Uncle Ven). Talking and heehee-haha'ing...and learning interesting stuff...like, Alabama IS actually a country (didn't you know that?!), and that jiejie Eunice can't catch certain kind of jokes (lame jokes, haha). Oh, and we found out something about Jit, too. Hahahaha.....

Came back to Kluang with Dad and Mum and my sisters...dropped by Cyberjaya (Dad, Mum and the three girls stayed there on Friday night) to get stuff. While waiting for Mum in the shower, we girls were taking some shots...it was so funny!

Jem's teeth...haha!!

Dad was resting for a while, and we were giggling away...on the same couch. Finally he got up, and offered to take a picture for us...you should have seen him...SO FUNNY!!! He was even saying things like, "Okie...eh, don't put your hand there! Take it away!"

There. Dad took this for us...we think it's nice. Still...I think my eyes always appear smaller in pictures. Haha, for all you know, I'm in denial! =P

Got to church this morning at 7.45am...I actually thought I was running late because for I don't know what reason, our front auto gate wouldn't budge. So Dad had to manually open it...but when I got to church, I was the first one among the band members to get there...hmmm.

Anyways...playing the 2nd keyboard (the synthesizers) for worship this time round was...pretty challenging, I must say. But fun! I don't remember playing around with so many instrument sounds before...hehehe...nice. =)

Okie dokies, everyone...that was my weekend. Today my head doesn't feel like it belongs to me...stupid headache. Erghhh........

Buh-bye and goooooodnites.

A Day In The Life of The Five Good Friends - Episode 1

One bright and shining Tuesday afternoon, five wonderful friends (Zul, Chin Fang, Sheran, Sangeetha, and Lydia) went out to play. Haha...no, not play...eat. They went out to eat.

While at lunch (to be specific, at Bishan KFC), they came across this man who was sitting not far away from them...this man, they discovered, was really weird (or "WIRED" in Sheran's words =P). He likes looking at guys...yup. Funny, huh...anyways, that was what he was doing the whole time they were eating...

Allow me to sidetrack here for a while...prior to this, Ms. Lydia Tang had a few encounters with him. Not that she's ever talked to him before...it's just that she had gotten up the same bus as him a few times, and being the observant young lady that she is, she noticed that he smiles ALL THE TIME (and it's NOT the mere friendly type...it's the freaky and creepy kind), and he likes looking at guys.

Back to my story...so, the Five Friends (six actually, if you count Lionel, who had lunch with them) decided to put their hypothesis to test...

First, they sent Ms. Gursheran Kaur to walk in front of him...he didn't even look up from his pieces of paper scattered on the table. So next, they sent Encik Zulhilmi. And tada! He looked up...for a mere one second (maybe his kind of guys aren't Zul's type lah. Haha!!).

Just as they were finishing up the last of their lunch, The Man started packing his stuff up and got up from his seat...the Five Friends and Lionel then decided to do a little investigating. Their aim: find out what he does and maybe where he lives (Ms. Lydia thought that he lives near her place)...so off they went.

The first place The Man stopped was the toilet...Zul and Lionel went in with him. Not too closely, of course. When The Man came out, the Five Friends and Lionel followed him...at a safe distance. A few times though, they thought he saw them following...they were trying their VERY BEST to be discreet, but Ms. Sangeetha obviously needed more lessons at that...she was giggling all the way...and she was really, REALLY perasan (sorry, I don't know how to explain this word in English...thousands of apologies). She kept thinking that he was looking at HER...

The Man walked through the mall...then turned back and headed towards the MRT station...they followed. He played with the ticketing machines...they watched him play. He finally walked through the mall again and took a bus...and so did the Five Friends...

Sheran and Lydia got off the bus together with The Man...while the other three friends (Lionel had already gone home) got off at the next bus stop. The Man crossed the overhead bridge to the opposite bus stop...the two friends decided to take the pedestrian crossing (thinking they wouldn't be too noticeable). Ms. Lydia Tang put on her black jacket (even in the sweltering afternoon heat)...because she was wearing a bright pink top.

When the two friends had crossed the road, they decided to wait behind a tree...so as not to be noticed by The Man. Lo and behold...there was another man at a nearby bush. And this is what happened:

Sheran: Hey, what's that guy doing there?
Lydia: Where? Oh there...umm...........is he pee'ing or what?
Sheran: Oh my gawd!! Is he pee'ing??!?!
Lydia: ......umm.............
Sheran: Oh my gawd!!!!! I think he's flashing at us!!!!!!!!!
* And Sheran bursts into peals of ringing laughter................................

So...back to The Man. Lydia predicted that he was waiting for Bus 156. Well...she was right for a moment. The Man only flagged Bus 156, but did not board...however, he finally boarded Bus 162...and the two friends crossed the road again to join their three friends on the other side...

The Five Friends decided to call it a day for their adventure...they decided that they had better things to do than be too curious about other people's lives.

* This entry was entitled as Episode 1 because...the Five Friends may embark on another adventure another day. Stay tuned! =)

!@#$%^&*
Freak.

I was on my way back from church just now, on the bus...and this man, in his late fifties or early sixties, plopped himself down next to me. His bag hit me, and he smelled of alcohol...the worse part is, he sat SO CLOSE to me. He was occupying more than half the seat...I moved in all I could...

Twice he leaned towards me...my instant reaction was to fold my arms towards my chest...don't ask me why, but I think most girls do that when something like this happens (it's a form of guarding yourself, I think...right?).

Anyways...I was so afraid that the man would do something. It sort of reminded me of the freaky dream I had last week (I shan't go into details, but it was a real nightmare) ...I was certain that I would have taken out my brand new juicer from my bag (I had bought a small hand-juicer on my way back) and clobber his head real hard if he attempted anything...

So...when the bus reached my stop, the man allowed me such a small space to get out that his hand brushed my butt. HELLO??!?!!?! I may be small, but I'm NOT THAT SMALL!!!!!!!! Just give me my space and DON'T TOUCH ME!!!!!!!!!!

It is at times such as this that I wish I was the world's biggest fatso...just so that I can occupy the whole seat and not have to worry about people trying to be funny.

Freako. Should have just taken my juicer out.

Candy's BIG Day
I spent the whole day sleeping...from 8.00am till 6.00pm. Because...I spent the whole night awake (except for a little half an hour).

Why?

It was Candy's birthday...and we, her classmates, decided to plan a BBQ for her. So off we went to East Coast Park yesterday evening...we told Candy to just relax and bring herself. And so she did. =)

It was good...although we started like...two hours behind our planned time. Haha...but, we had the whole night. Sitting by the BBQ pit eating and talking...sitting on the beach talking...and I was looking out at the water, watching for anything abnormal because my Kakak Eunice told me about her freaky Tsunami dream.

So anyways, the highlights of the night was when Zul got into action...at 11.00pm plus, he climbed a tree and acted like a monkey. At 3.00am plus, he was dancing to a Hindi song. Man...that was funny! He looked like a little cute boy...hahahahaha!!!

Just before Zul got dancing, I passed to Candy the card we wrote...she read it. No one saw her crying until I turned around...and I was like, "Why, Candy??" And she said, "I'm so touched!" And she cries somemore...I hug her...and she cries somemore. Then later she said her mascara has been tried and proven to be water-proof. Haha...now everyone can safely claim that MAYBELLINE water-proof mascara REALLY works!

I think I felt kinda bad...because I was the one who made the card and passed it to her. But then again...you don't feel bad when people feel touched, do you?

And so...Candy had the best birthday ever. She told me. =)

Pictures will be up soon...

*Lesson of the day: People are more sensitive than they seem to be...if you can't say something that's nice and wise or good and true, there's only one thing you should do: Shhhhhhh!! (I'm not referring to anyone in particular here...just a lesson I thought would be good as a reminder for us all)

Curiousity...
It's amazing what you can do when you're folding your clean laundry...I found myself musing over some things while doing just that today.

Just wondering how it is like being a guy...as in, more of the feelings and emotions part.

I mean...for example, what does a guy feel when he's just proposed to his girlfriend, and she says yes? Does he go, "Oh, she's agreed to marry me!" and that's it..........or..."Oh my gosh!!!!! She's gonna be MY wife! I'm gonna live for the rest of my life waking up next to her!! This has got to be the greatest thing that's ever happened to me!!!"

Does he feel on top of the world...like he's the only man in the whole wide world? Or does he feel slightly more than happy (excited, maybe) but think that it's just another phase of life guys go through at one point of time or another?

And what does a guy feel...when he finally gets his guts to ask the girl he's been eyeing for her number, and she gives it to him? Does he feel proud of himself and go, "Ooh, okie...cool"? Or does he go, "YESSSS!!! I've got her number! I'VE GOT HER NUMBERRRRR!!!"

Hmmm...sorry, guys. Just curious. =)

* I like folding clothes...hahahaha...

Pimples for sale
NICHOLAS SPARKS RAWKSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*.................dreamy sigh........................................*

He writes like no other...he captivates your mind, heart, and soul. And reading his books never fail to leave you dreamy after that...........

By far, my favourite author, Nicholas Sparks is. =) Oh, and Sophie Kinsella's good, too! She's super duper funny...she can make you laugh your butt off. Haha...I could read their books like there's no tomorrow...so hard to put them down!

Right now...I feel like I could write a book myself. So inspired!! HARHAR. Right.

Anyways...

.......ever talked with someone who's made you feel like you're not entitled to your own opinion? It's like...whatever you think and say is not of worth...no value. Like your opinions are one of a plain, boring ol' country bumpkin. Like he/she is right all the time...so, might as well just shut up and let the other person talk, right?

So much for trying to build relationship. Sigh.

Oh by the way...there's this HUGE pimple which has delightfully planted itself on my cheek. Ergh. When will pimples ever stop??!?!?!

* Sorry...my title for today has nothing to do with my post. Heeheeh... =P

Diarrhea atttack
We had NAPFA (fitness test) today...so, I'm actually fitter than I feel and think I am. Haha. Except for sit-ups...I think no one can beat Ms. Candy Koh M. Z. She has an amazing record of 55 sit-ups in a minute. My, my...teach me leh, Candy... =)

I will not forget what happened yesterday in a very, VERY long time...

My day started out with the alarm clock ringing...jiejie Eunice and I were going to MacRitchie Reservoir for a walk since it was a public holiday. But as I was brushing my teeth, it started to rain...with thunder and all. So we were quite disappointed...

But then, it got sunny...so we got changed, bought breakfast and...guess what...

The Prime Minister of Singapore was walking through the foodcourt...and jiejie got to shake his hand. =)

So after breakie, we headed to MacRitchie...by the time we got there, it was 11am.

So we took this route...

Saw this creature along the way...it didn't move a single bit, that's why we could take such an upclose shot.

We also came across other stuff...

...tortoises. They were pretty big...and there was SO many of them!!! We guessed they were hungry, because they were all swimming towards us.

And there's me in the corner, feeling pretty amazed...

There. Look at how hungry they were...we decided to give them a portion of our bread.

So anyways...I had a sudden urge to use the toilet. My tummy was acting up (and I suspect it was due to the spoilt orange juice I drank the other day...didn't know it was spoilt before it was too late). The urge grew more intense with every passing minute...

...and there was this very looooooooooong way more to go. After a while, I couldn't
tahan anymore...I decided to jog all the way back, leaving jiejie walking ever so slowly behind, laughing at me as I go.

Can you just imagine...out there where there's no toilet...with a tummy acting so weirdly, so bergodak-godak, churning like a washing machine, with an URGE TO EMPTY MY BOWEL CONTENTS SO HUGE, and a long way more to go (about 2km). It was a TORTURE, I tell you...no other experience like it...

I finally got to the toilet at the park...I never felt so good, emptying my bowel contents into the Throne of Collectibles (a.k.a the toilet bowl). But...DIARRHEA!!!!!

When I got back home (after 4 hours of walking + jogging the last bit, covering 10.3km) I had to go to the toilet again. Sigh................

Anyways, I went out again at night (with a very sore butt) to catch the fireworks display with Candy, Chin Fang and Sheran.

It was really nice...

And more...

Another shot...but it's a bit blur lah.

Even the moon looked great. =)

So...that was how I spent my 3rd Singapore National Day. The long walk, the diarrhea, the fireworks, the moon. Hehehe...all in all, it was a good one.

Except the diarrhea part.

Mess not with my sleep
Eeeeeeeeeyoooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhh.......
So
BUEH TAHAN, man!!!

Want to sleep also cannot...ergh. Please, give me some peace!!

First, my handphone rang. Jiejie Eunice. Okie fine. She just got back to Singapore. I wasn't irritated. But then she told me to, "WAKEUP!!"...I wasn't THAT irritated yet, but it was a trigger.

Then...as I attempted to fall asleep again, the househelp knocked on my door and shouted,
"APA LAGI?!?!?"

I mean...huh? What's that even supposed to mean? In all my eleven years of learning the Malay language, I never came across such a sentence...or phrase...it's incomplete. But then again, she's Indonesian...on normal days WHEN I'M NOT SLEEPING, that phrase wouldn't irritate me (it does manage to make me roll my eyes, though). But today, of all times of the day, she has to knock on my door and shout that. ISH!!!

So, she wanted to change some coins...sigh.

Now I can't get back to sleep anymore (that's why I'm here). Ergh. And I thought I could enjoy some afternoon nap, since I've not had the chance to do so in the past few months. Sighhhhhhh.........

Advice to everyone: NEVER EVER mess with Ly's sleep...if she's sleeping, it simply means she needs it (or just wants to...because she has a deep passion and appreciation for sleep. And the want for it usually occurs when she has no specific agenda for the day). Her aim is just to get some rest. DO NOT WAKE HER UP. The only time you can wake her up, is when she's supposed to.

But in the instance of today's unfortunate event, she was NOT suppose
d to. All she wanted to do was just to get some rest...because she's been worrying so much, for a whole week, that she wouldn't pass her second attempt (which she did, by the way).

Thank you for your cooperation...it is deeply appreciated.

*It's okie, jie...I'm not mad at you. I'm just not very happy with the situation. It'll pass. Haha.

Sentosa Open Sunday
I'm so tired right now...so............PICTURES!!

Thomas...on the way to Sentosa. He was hyper. My Cg mate.

Amos...at my station. And his nice friend over there, helping him cheat. Hah!

This is our youth pastor...Pastor Jabez Chia. I don't know how he did it, but he managed to swing the polo sweet into his mouth instead of slurping it...no wonder he's a pastor (haha, no relevance!! Oh nevermind...).

Senior pastor's son, Andrew...believe it or not, he's 19 and in NS. He looks so young!!! Wish I could exchange some of my "old" looks with him...haha...

Farand, Jie (yes, that's his name...he reminds me of Cheng Yee soooooo much!! Lead guitarist and a totally chatty guy, like Cheng Yee), and Linus.

Sulwyn (in red)...she was so funny!!

Qiu Yun and me at our station...Qiu Yun's the newest member in our CG. She's a really sweet and pleasant girl. =) Oh, and she thought I came from Hong Kong. HONG KONG!!! So funny...

Carol and Eliza...my CG mates.

Timothy...CG mate as well.

Okie...enough lah. Gotta zzzzzzzzzz soon...goodnitoes all body!

Ernest who??
Dad was really blur and funny this morning...Pris asked for his handphone. He reached into his pocket and gave her a pen. Hmmm...oh, and this...

Scenario: Everyone in the kitchen.
Time: Somewhere between 9.30am - 10am.

Jiejie Eunice: Hey...a nurse can earn up to RM 40,000 a month in Oman, you know.

Dad: Huh? Who?

Jiejie Eunice: A nurse.

Dad: Ernest? Who is Ernest??

Everyone starts laughing...............

Of Tulips, English Ladies and Vision

I think these are the loveliest things I've ever laid eyes on.
I just love them...tulips =)

More tulips...

Ahh.......simply gorgeous!
I think I should marry a Dutch (tulips grow like anything in Holland)...hahaha.
Jiejie Eunice said that if I really do,
I've gotta get her a ticket to Holland (Netherlands).

Anyways...there's something else my friends
recently told me.
They think I look like those refined English ladies, sitting at the gazebo,
sipping my English tea,
knitting something,
watching the sun set while waiting for my hubby to get home.

Right.
Oh my gosh...I cannot imagine myself
in a bonnet and those long, long dresses which sweep the floor!!
And maybe wearing a pair of white gloves, too...
Aiyoyoh...cannot lah!! Cannot!!!

Okies...last one for tonight.
Saw this at the Malaysian immigration today:

VISI
Menjadikan Kastam Malaysia dihormati,
diiktiraf, dan bertaraf dunia.
(translated: VISION - To make the Malaysian customs
repectable, recognized,
and to be that of a world standard)

Yeah right.
I could bring an elephant in and they wouldn't care much.

To pinch or not to pinch...
So confusing!!!!!!!! How am I to go for my second attempt on Monday?! The lecturers have different principles for one particular skill...some say must pinch, some say don't need. ErghHHHhHHhhh..................

Been attending remedial classes...it's supposed to make me feel more confident, but I think it's just confusing me all the more. Sigh, sigh, sigh.....

I'm scared...sekali I fail again.
*Can somebody please hold my hand?*

Anyways, guess what...I went jogging at Bishan Park just now...fifteen minutes non-stop. Haha...it's been a while since I last excercised "properly". Oh sigh...and I've been having headache for the past few days. Something's not right...I'm beginning to think that it might be a tumour...(sorry, paranoid lah...just learnt about it today).

I think this week has been passing by a little slower than usual...is it just me? Hmmm oh well, anyway...highlights of this week:

Monday - Skill assessment (FAILED!!), theory test, ICA presentation.

Tuesday - Caught "The Lake House"...not what I expected. If you are planning to watch it, PLEASE REMEMBER TO BRING YOUR BRAINS ALONG. You need to figure some things out by yourself...and should you not succeed at doing so, don't worry. I'm still trying to figure it out. Two years is a long distance relationship. Yeaps. Oh...we went to Swenson's, too. =)

Wednesday - Nothing much...met Chee Loong for lunch. And then remedial class.

Thursday - Nothing much...remedial class again...

Friday (tomorrow) - I'M GOING HOME!!!!! To Kluang! Yay!! It's been three weeks since I last got home...

Saturday - Come back to Singapore. Haha.

Sunday - Sentosa!! My CG's turn to organize Open Sunday for the whole Youth Ministry, so we're going to Sentosa...I hope no one gets lost. So many of them.

By the way...what does "If size doesn't matter, how come I'm so popular?" mean...I think it makes no sense. We've been musing over it. Especially Candy. Haha! =P
